Eating green is one of the fun parts of a sustainable lifestyle. For those looking for healthier alternatives to Malaysia’s bumper crop of eateries, it doesn’t get more authentic than EcoGreen Organic. Sample their latest organic laksa or simply drop by to check out their range of organic raw produce, sourced locally from Malaysia. And if you are thinking of exploring guilt-free and healthy ways to host a party, check out their catering menu.
EcoGreen’s managing director was instrumental in the development of the Malaysia Organic Standard (MS1529), as well as the Malaysian Certification SOM (Sijil Organik Malaysia), so it’s safe to say that the cafes and outlets under the EcoGreen brand name are the real deal.
EcoGreen itself started in 1998, with the sale of homegrown vegetables from a 20-acre organic farm in Negeri Sembilan. Since then, the company has expanded to include three retail stores and restaurants in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) – practically next door to EcoKnights. All dishes and produce sold are prepared without the use of monosodium glutamate, transfat, or artificial preservatives, coloring, and flavoring. Having tasted the results, we can safely say that the food is definitely worth a try! Here, take a peek:
Top (L to R): Grilled mackerel, Organic Yong Tau Foo, Chicken Soup Noodle, Sweet & Sour Fish, Nasi Ulam and Rojak Buah
We personally recommend the Grilled Mackerel, which comes with organic rice and mixed vegetables (above), and is affordably priced. Those interested can sample EcoGreen’s dishes at the Organic Café @ Bangunan Bakti Siti Hasmah in TTDI, or their combined Life Café and Organic Shop nearby. EcoGreen will be be serving their culinary delights at the Eco Film Fest 2008 in November at Aswara, so do drop by to take a look!
