The Eco Film Fest 2008 was officially launched on May 30th 2008 at Palate Pallete. Despite the heavy downpour that was atypical of the dry season, the launch of the film competition was a blast. To our surprise, many members of the press turned up for the launch. The Honorable YB Elizabeth Wong, Selangor Exco of Consumer, Tourism and Environment, was the guest of honor during the launch and she gave a very urgent message to the general public - climate change is here and it's happening to everyone and there's a serious call for action.
We will soon be posting the clippings of the news coverage on TV3, NTV7 and Bernama channels. Meanwhile, here is the media release issued by EcoKnights. An updated factsheet was also released to members of the press.
Meanwhile, enjoy some visuals of the launch right here.
a. Guest and Press registration : The whole idea was to have a launch at minimal impact to the environment and also at minimal cost. We used recycled wood for the backdrop. The words formed on the backdrop were literally done with recycled paper. The press kits were rewritable cds which include all the information related to the Festival. The door gifts given out to press and guests represented EcoKnights' commitment to the environment.
b. Local film makers attend the launch : Famous local film makers like Hishammudin Rais and Adman Salleh supported the Festival with their presence.
c. Some members of the press and guests: Palate Pallete is a nice cosy artspace cum restaurant that set the right ambience for the launch. Again, with the unusual storm that darkened the KL cityscape, we managed to make everyone enjoy themselves during the launch. The finger food were delicious and the door gifts were a hit.
