The urgency surrounding the upcoming UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen has led celebrities to join forces via a Public Service Announcement (in association with the Environmental Media Association and the TckTckTck coalition) to call for a Fair, Ambitious, and Binding treaty. Penan Sue Malaysian Authorities Over Logging, Plantations

Five rainforest communities of Malaysia's Middle Baram region are suing the Sarawak state government and the Malaysian timber giant Samling for non-respect of their native customary rights. They are demanding land titles for an area of 80'000 hectares, the nullification of four timber and planted-forest licences, plus compensation for damages.
"Penan Peace Park" is aimed at protecting the last primeval rainforests of Sarawak´s Upper Baram region and is challenging the official logging plans – the Penan wish to develop tourism and to protect their native rights.
It might be a bit early for now but EcoKnights is already working for next year's green film fest. Only the best for you of course! So if you are keen to find out how you can contribute (perform, exhibit, etc), do drop us a line here.
We'd love to hear from you! For more information, log on to www.ecofilmfest.my.

In thick forest — in this case, the vast Ulu Masen ecosystem in the Indonesian province of Aceh, where leeches writhe beneath your feet and white-handed gibbons hoot from the treetops — they can outpace even deer. Second, elephants can't climb trees. This is good, because that's precisely what you're meant to do if one of them charges.
